Mel & Andy, the owners of The Eatery & Keg Room and Jo Purdie, owner of Learning Links Childcare centres, have created a local version of ‘100 Locals Give a Damn’.
Their aim was to get 100 locals on board who each would donate $100 towards a charity. For those of us in smaller to medium sized businesses, it’s not always affordable to support a charity, but when we all give a little each, it’s achievable and it can have a massive impact on those that need it most.
This year we heard from Prison Ministries, Raising Ziggy and Foster Hope Waikato. They all had an opportunity to pitch why they were the most worthy charity for the donations on the night. Whilst all had good stories, Foster Hope Waikato came out on top! An amazing charity, who provides such a valuable service to children and youth in our community, a charity that is run solely by volunteers. So they walked away with the pot of cash.
It will be an annual event and there is still the opportunity for other business owners to get on board before the membership hits 100 people – come join us!
